Who is The Man on Monopoly?
Many people call him either The Monopoly Man or Mr. Monopoly. He was officially named the latter in 1999.
Nonetheless, his full name is Rich Uncle Pennybags.
The name Rich Uncle originally appeared on many Parker Brothers games. Its first appearance was in 1936 when it was written on chance and community chest cards. When the Parker Brothers realized the character was a hit they named him Rich Uncle Pennybags clearly because they wanted to leave no room for doubt as to how deep the old man’s pockets were.
Does The Monopoly Man Have a Monocle?
The definite answer to this question is no. The Monopoly Man has never had, does not have, and most likely will never have a monocle.
Regardless, it still remains a valid question as many fans made popular portraits of this man with a monocle, in fact, the monocle has become sort of a signature piece of his appearance despite the fact he’s never had one in any official release of Monopoly or its spinoffs.
